In this video I’m going to give you five reasons you should start using YouTube to market your business.
You might’ve been put off in the past thinking it requires more time and effort than the main social media platforms or worried that you’ve missed your chance as you didn’t start using it a few years back, but I urge you to think again and consider video marketing on YouTube for your business as it’s not just about millennials, computer games, and animal videos.
It’s a very effective way of finding new customers and driving traffic to your website. Please subscribe to my channel and click on the notification bell if you’d like more social media tips, tricks, and tutorials. So let’s get started…
Although I’ve had a YouTube channel for over a decade, I’ve only started using it as a marketing tool this last year. Of all the social media networks, it’s probably the most complex to get started on as creating a video takes longer than writing a blog post or taking a picture for one of the other social channels. But after you’ve set up your channel and created a couple of videos, it actually doesn’t take up too much time as you can batch record your content.
So reason one, longevity. Unlike some of the other social networks, content on YouTube’s around for a long time and often performs better over time. Compared to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram where content’s fleeting, YouTube content is easily accessible years after it’s been posted.
Reason two, it’s searchable. People find your content through either a Google or YouTube search, so are likely to be looking for the type of content you’ve created, which means it’s less intrusive and annoying than other social media posts. Your content’s being found or sought after rather than just something that’s interrupting people, so likely consumed by people with a genuine interest in what you’ve created.
Reason three, people get to know you when you appear in a video and this increases chances of someone wanting to do business with you, as most people like to do business with a person who they can relate to in some way rather than a faceless logo they might see on another social media platform.
Anyone who inquires about working with you after seeing your video is much more likely to actually go ahead with the work if they already feel they know you a bit.
Reason four, it drives web traffic. Even if you’re not planning on building a large following on YouTube, it’s still worth posting videos on YouTube as a way to drive traffic to your website. Posting answers to your frequently asked questions on YouTube, then embedding them on your website increases your chance of being found in search and attracting more visitors than if you embedded your video directly on your site or used another host, particularly if you optimize your video well to get found by your target audience on YouTube.
Reason five, any video content you create for YouTube can be repurposed for other platforms. From a three-minute video on YouTube for example, you can break it down into short snippets which you can use on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. You can even use quotes from it on posts. This doesn’t work the other way around.
